Hello Bexley Families,

The first two days were a wonderful success at Bexley and we thank YOU for your support! This year we are on a 10-day schedule rotation for our PE, Art, Music, and Computer Science. Each week is either blue or green so our staff, students and families can easily identify the schedule rotation by color. This week is GREEN WEEK. Please look at your child’s schedule and plan for GREEN WEEK specials.

Tomorrow, our staff will be throughout the campus to assist walking students to their classrooms. Thank you for saying goodbye at the gate, the car loop, or the bus stop. We will make sure all students have the opportunity to get breakfast and get to their classrooms.

THANK YOU to all families that used our car line this past week! We had a record start, ending our car line by 4:45 in the afternoon. We will continue to work to end earlier each day. Please remember to hang your car tag from your mirror and if you do not have a car tag, you must come to the office with your ID to receive a tag.

At arrival, we do not permit students being dropped off in our parking lot or along the streets. We are liable for the safety of every child and this is not permitted as we do not have supervision for students to walk through our parking lot during arrival, or at any time throughout the school day.

Bike riders must have a helmet if riding a bike to school. This is a state law states that any child under 16 riding a bike must have a helmet. Thank you for making sure your bike rider has a helmet with their bike at school.

As you know, this past week we have had unusual heat conditions, especially in the afternoon. We have covered areas for our students to wait for their cars and buses at dismissal. If we expect long delays with our buses, we will bring students inside to wait. If they are not inside, we will make sure students are in the shaded areas provided by our overhangs and they will have access to water if they do not have a water bottle.

Our student code of conduct does not permit hats, bandanas, or head coverings to be worn in the school building. We do allow hats to be worn outside. Please help us reinforce the student code of conduct by reminding your child that a hat can only be worn outside. We will ask students to remove their hats and hoods when inside the building.

We are a large school and when a parent changes dismissal, we want to be sure we have all of the safety measures in place. If you are changing your child’s dismissal, you must call the front office. Do not message the teacher, as our teachers may not receive the message while they are teaching. We will also not allow any changes to dismissal after 3:00 . For the safety of every child, after 3:00 we will not change the way your child goes home. This includes taking students off of buses once they are loaded. This slows down the process of bus attendance and creates all other students to arrive home, even later. Coming soon…we will have an electronic system for you to change dismissal, if needed.

We can’t wait for Buster’s Back to School Bash on August 24th from 6:00-8:00pm! Thank you to our PTO for coordinating this awesome fundraiser! See the details below and make sure you register for the Splat Bus or Color Express canvas painting by 8/17. We hope to see you there! 💙🐾💚
