Hello Bulldog Families,

Fall is in the air, football is in full swing, and Freedom Week is celebrated next week! This is an exciting time of year as we begin to plan to celebrate the season and engage our students in relevant learning experiences that align. First, our district has designated “Flags Up Friday” for all staff and students to show their spirit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by wearing red and white every Thursday or Friday when the Bucs play at home.

Tonight, our PTO spirit night fundraiser is from 4:00-8:00pm at Chipotle. Take a night off from cooking and order dinner from our local Chipotle. Don’t forget to say you are from Bexley Elementary.

Tomorrow night, at 6:00pm, is our monthly PTO meeting in our Rec Center. We would love for you to join us as our PTO plans to support your child’s Bexley Elementary experience. This month’s hype is all about our Buster’s Buddy-a-thon Fall Fundraiser. Flyers went home with all students in their Friday folder and on Tuesday this week we kick-off our Buddy-a-thon Fundraiser in school! You and your child’s participation will to help raise funds for more shade structures around campus. Please check the yellow flyer in your Friday folders for more details on how to earn your very own Buddy and some awesome prizes, including a buddy for your child’s individual classroom!

Have you created your parent portal with emergency contact information and completed the consent forms for the parent bill of rights in your parent portal? If not, we ask that you please do this today. Visit our pasco county schools district website here: https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/oll_documents/parent-bill-of-rights to clearly understand your rights as a parent to consent or deny the items listed. We do not post student photos on our Bexley Facebook or web page due to the consent that several families have denied or have not yet approved. There are several important details in the parent bill of rights consent forms that must be read carefully. For example, the media/photograph form, when denied, will prevent your child from being photographed in our yearbook or having his/her name in our school program announcements. There were many families that did not know this last school year. Please visit your parent portal today to provide us with consent or denial so we can get it right. We respect your rights, and if you don’t complete the consent forms, then they automatically revert to passive acceptance, other than the health related items, as of September 30th.

Our myStudent communication system is improving every day but we also realize there are still glitches. If you’d like to reach your child’s teacher, please email them directly or call the school and leave a phone message. Right now we know you can choose your child’s teacher to send a message in the myStudent communication platform. This week we heard that push notifications are coming soon so that you will be notified when you have a message waiting. Our district is working hard to correct these unanticipated barriers. Thank you for your patience.

Our car line is running smoothly and we want to thank those that have moved into our car line instead of parking and dropping off your child on Cadance Loop, the dog park, or the field down the street. We put safety first and are continuing to advocate for additional safety provisions. Please remember that parking in the alleyways, blocking driveways, or double parking are not allowed. Additional signage has been requested to maintain safety for our Bulldogs. We thank you, in advance, for your support. When traveling in our car line please refrain from texting or using your cell phone. We have several staff stationed in the middle of the car loop and your cell phone is a distraction. We thank you for your attention to this important safety reminder.

Remember that Tuesdays and Thursdays are days that we invite you to join your child for lunch on campus. We are awaiting additional picnic tables that should be here soon. Please be aware that seating is limited when visiting for lunch, but we are working to accommodate a comfortable lunchtime visit for our families.

Last but not least, next week is Freedom Week and there are some fun dress up days for your child to show his/her spirit and celebrate our country’s freedom! Here is how your child can participate with us each day next week:

Monday, Sept 25:         STARS AND STRIPES (Show us your patriotic spirit by wearing stars and stripes)
Tuesday, Sept 26:        HEROES DAY (Our nation is full of heroes who make it great. Dress up as your favorite hero)
Wednesday, Sept 27:   SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY (You are a great citizen in school. Wear a school shirt or school colors)
Thursday, Sept 28:       THROWBACK HISTORY (History rocks. Dress from your favorite decade)
Friday, Sept 29:            FREEDOM FRIDAY (We are so grateful for our flag that waves. Wear our flag colors Red, White and Blue)

We wish you a wonderful Sunday and look forward to seeing our Bulldogs, on time, tomorrow morning.

Believe, Engage, Succeed, Teamwork, Integrity, and Equity for every Bulldog, every day!

Mrs. Michele Boylan, BES Principal
