Hello Bexley Families,
This is Mrs. Boylan, your child’s principal with your weekly community connection.
This past week, report cards were released in your parent portal. Please take time to review your child’s quarter 2 report card and reach out to your child’s teacher if you don’t already have a conference scheduled. FAST and STAR state assessment reports have been sent home and this week you will receive your child’s DIBELS middle of the year report. These assessments monitor the progress of every student at Bexley and we are happy to help review them with you in person, if you choose.
The middle of the year is a great time to reflect on your routines at home that support your child’s completion of Lexia, Zearn, and reading nightly. All three of these activities will support your child’s progress in school.
This Monday, we honor Martin Luther King Jr. day and there will be no school for students or staff. On Tuesday, January 17th, students and staff return to school. On Wednesday, we will celebrate our HOUSES so have your child wear his her HOUSE shirt or HOUSE color. Remember that Believe is YELLOW, Engage is ORANGE, Succeed is RED, Teamwork is GREEN, Integrity is BLUE, and Equity is PURPLE. Our HOUES initiative is to help our big school feel smaller and connect students and staff through our core commitments and school spirit. We now have a BIG HOUSE WHEEL for our students to spin for HOUSE points when they show these traits and those that include being respectful, responsible, and safe, too.
On Thursday, starting at 4:30 there will be a PTO meeting in Mrs. Salgado’s art room. Please join us to know how you can support our organization and school. Our next PTO sponsored event is our Family Sweetheart Dance and volunteer helpers are needed. To accommodate our large school the dance will be on Friday, February 3rd, from 6:00-7:00 or 7:30-8:30. Sign up and pay in Rycor for this event. First come, first serve to attend.
Looking ahead at February, mark your calendars for our Kindergarten chorus concert on February 13th, 6:30PM, at River Ridge Performing Arts Center and Field Day on February 23rd. Field Day shirts are available for purchase starting this Tuesday. Order your child’s shirt today to prepare for Field Day on February 23rd for all Bulldogs! You may visit our Facebook page to see the flyer and paper field day shirt flyers will go home this coming week, so be sure to check your child’s backpack each night.
