Hello Bexley Families,

This week is the last week before Spring Break!  We will continue our focus on learning, take a break to recharge, and be back to end the school year STRONG!

Please mark or adjust your calendars for this week’s Culvers dinner night out.  There was an error on the flyer that was sent home. This event is Tuesday, March 8th from 4:00-7:00.  We hope you will join us and take your family out to dinner at the Culvers in Trinity on Tuesday night this week.  Please remember to say you are from Bexley Elementary School.

Wednesday, March 9th is an early release day.  Please remember to plan for your child to be dismissed from school at 2:20pm on Wednesday this week.

We are excited to have FIELD DAY on Friday this week!  Please remember that your child should be dressed for outdoor games, inflatables, etc. Send your child with a water bottle, comfortable shoes that cover the toes (sneakers if possible), and apply sunblock before your child leaves for school if you wish. We know the weather is uncertain for Friday. We will communicate our plan on Thursday only if we plan to postpone field day due to the weather. For now, we look forward to celebrating a fun day with our Bulldogs on Friday before Spring Break.

Lastly, Monday, March 21st, is a teacher planning day. Students will return from Spring Break on Tuesday, March 22nd.  Mark your calendars because March 23rd is Spring Picture Day! We wish every family a wonderful, safe and restful Spring Break.

If your child is a car rider or hiker biker, please continue to listen to this message.

This past week we requested a Pasco Sheriffs Officer to join our arrival and provide suggestions for our arrival procedures to ensure the safety of all students.  The deputy was able to collect some information and reveal some previous practices that I wanted to clear up. We are most concerned about the cars that drop off students in the middle of the street, make U-turns in the middle of the street, parking violations, and block the cross walks on the main road in front of our campus. Our goal, like yours, is to make sure all students arrive on campus safely from your driveway to our front entrance.

Here is some data collected and some misconceptions that needed clearing up:

  1. Our car line has two lanes and all staff are on deck to help it run efficiently each morning and afternoon. We have been successful in shortening the timeframe of our car line process. This is the best, safest way for your child to arrive and dismiss from school if you are not offered a bus.
    2. Those that live within walking/biking distance have the option of using this method for their child to arrive and dismiss from school. The county has approved one crossing guard closest to Hiker/Biker 1.  We have requested a crossing guard for Hiker/Biker 2, however, this data collection is still in process with the county officials and we cannot guarantee what support we will receive at this time. To support we have staff and our school security guard in this location during arrival and dismissal.
    3. Golf carts that are registered with a license plate MUST use our car line for arrival and dismissal.  Parking on the county grass is a violation since the area is a CDD (Bexley Community Development District).  This is a state law and you can be fined by county officials for parking in these areas. I realize this may not be what you were told originally, however, this was confirmed with the deputy official this week.
    4. Parking on grass, the side of the street, or Cadence Loop to release your child for arrival is also not permitted and you could be fined by county officials. Again these are all community development district areas and although we do not have authority, as a school, to supervise these areas, the county is involved with our safety efforts.

We thank you for understanding and always strive to be transparent.  We welcome our families on campus and don’t aim to make procedures more difficult for you. At the same time, we are obligated to use the campus layout we are given and create safe routines for students as they come to school and leave us to go home each day.  We thank you for your cooperation and support with our safety efforts! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Thank you for your support with your child’s education.  We look forward to seeing our Bulldogs, on time, tomorrow morning!
Believe. Engage. Succeed.
