Hello Bexley Bulldog Families,

This week is Literacy Week and our staff will be intentional each day to instill a LOVE for reading through creative and engaging activities with our students. We have one dress-up day, on Tuesday! Have your child wear something tropical as we dive deep into reading! There are 3 things you can also do at home to instill a love for reading and support literacy week. First, read a beach book with your child. Second, try a new book genre, try an informational, non-fiction book if you haven’t already! Third, celebrate your child on Friday if he/she read for 20-30 minutes each night. We thank you for your support of what we know will increase learning for all of our Bulldogs!

Our Star Lab is still at Bexley this week and all classes will have the experience to visit “under the stars” before the end of the week. Thank you to our LDCs, Mel Wade and Danielle Biggs for making this real-world, engaging experience come to life for our Bulldogs. Don’t forget to ask your child about their Star Lab experience and at least one thing they learned about our solar system.

Please join me in wishing our Science Showcase school finalists the best of luck as they compete in the district competition this Saturday at Cypress Creek Middle School. We are so proud of our scientists!

The 100th day of school is Monday, January 30th! Can you believe it…100 days of learning with our Bulldogs!

Safety is always a priority at Bexley and we thank those parents that are diligent and attentive in our car line. Please remember that dropping off students on the main road or in the parking lot at Bexley is not permitted. We have a system that is supervised and a safe method during student arrival and dismissal. We understand the line may be long, but it is safe, and worth the time. We have been forgiving of the four minute start time change as we understand that we have several car riders and are still working to improve the crosswalk efficiency by the dog park. We appreciate your cooperation and attentiveness in using our car loop, as designed. We are dedicated to keeping it safe and efficient for our families.

Clinic passes are back at Bexley! This means when your child visits the clinic they will come home with a clinic pass that explains his/her visit. As normal, emergencies will be communicated by phone, but these passes will assist with our documentation and communication in our busy clinic each day.

Our very first Family Sweetheart Dance is on February 3rd and we heard this weekend that our tickets are sold out! We will evaluate the ticket sales this week and share more information as soon as possible. Our school is growing, but the capacity of our cafeteria is not. Stay tuned. For those that purchased tickets, please make sure you read below.
1. Students attending MUST be accompanied by an adult. In elementary school, family dances are fun for all ages!
2. No refunds, exchanges or rain checks
3. No ticket sales at the door
4. Tickets will come home in folders the week of the dance
We are looking forward to our very first dance with all our bulldog!

Field Day is coming on February 23rd this year and shirts are on sale through Thursday of this week. If you haven’t purchased your Field Day shirt, do so today. Our PE coaches will be arranging for parent volunteers and there are a limited number they need to make this day safe and fun for all students. Please make sure you are an approved volunteer and you return the PE letter to your child’s PE coach if you are interested in volunteering.

Save the date for our Spring Carnival on Friday, March 31st. This is open to all families and our PTO is in the planning processes. If you’d like to volunteer your time, please reach out to our PTO. Our carnival is always a wonderful event at Bexley thanks to the village that gathers to assist and create a fun night for all!

This month we celebrate our collective commitment to integrity. Talk to your child about this trait and how it adds to our success and character. We thank you, as always for your support and look forward to seeing our Bulldogs, on time, tomorrow morning.
Believe. Engage. Succeed. Teamwork. Integrity, and Equity, for every Bulldog, every day!
